![]() I sent feedback, but Apple rarely listens to its customers unless they get pummeled on something (and apparently most users are happy with a bottom dock and either don't notice or don't care what they do). MacBook Pro 2016 to 2020: four Thunderbolt 3 ports four 4K displays. If you are on the lookout for something small yet uncompromising, the Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Dock Mini and. Then one could set up their monitors and docks any way they like and still have full access to starting applications without having to leave the other monitor. That works out as follows: MacBook Air 2017 to 2020 and later: two Thunderbolt 3 ports two 4K displays. So, these are our picks for the best docking stations for your MacBook Pro. ![]() They’re useful for connecting a pair of external monitors, incredibly fast storage, an Ethernet cable via a 29 adapter sold separately or a Thunderbolt docking station. Apple should offer a dock on BOTH monitors at all times, IMO just like their menu bar is now on both monitors (one is unselected, but always there). Starting on the left and moving left to right, we get the new MagSafe power connector and a pair of Thunderbolt connections that double as mini-Display ports. Unfortunately, I get no dock on the second monitor unless I put them side-by-side and select a bottom positioned dock. This happens for instance when you have a > screen below the menu bar screen: the dock will be on the bottom screen and > the menu bar on the top screen. If I set the monitor position diagonal up in Displays, I could still mount the dock on the left and not accidentally end up on the second monitor since I had to go diagonally up through the upper left corner to get to it. ![]() I preferred a left-mounted dock to maximize vertical space, but my second monitor is to the left of center. If you use a diagonal or vertical positioned display for the second monitor, it will not migrate period for some reason. It will not migrate a dock currently to another display if one uses a left or right mounted dock position, only for the bottom and ONLY if the displays are positioned side-by-side in Preferences/Displays. ![]()
